The midcoast Maine area is rich with beautiful coastal towns and rocky ocean landscapes. No trip to the area is complete without a visit to one or more quaint villages and picturesque towns filled with art galleries, waterside dining, interesting shops and the working waterfront.
Some of our favorite towns include Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Damariscotta. Bath is somewhat further afield, but is worth the visit, especially to see the Maritime Museum and for the needlework/weaving enthusiast, a trip to Halcyon Yarns is a must! The Boothbay Harbor area, while a bit more crowded and "touristy" than the others, offers much in the way of shopping, whale-watching tours, and wonderful harbor side dining. Nearby , you might like to visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Hiking in the Camden Hills, climbing Mts. Battie and Megunticook or just strolling around Rockport are amazing experiences. Kayaking almost anywhere is spectacular; our favorite launching spot is in the town of Port Clyde.
The list below highlights some of our favorite spots and places that we visit often.
Port Clyde
Owls Head Light House
Monhegan Island
Pemaquid Point & Light House
Olsen House
Rockland Breakwater
Marshall Point Light House
Langlais Sculpture Preserve
Farnsworth Museum
