Prominently sited on a rocky point of land, Marshall Point Lighthouse is located near the fishing village of Port Clyde, Maine. The Lighthouse property includes the wonderful light, connected via the long wooden runway to the property, a lovingly-restored Keeper’s House, as well as welcoming grounds and complimenting gardens. In The Keeper’s House, there is an extensive museum housing exhibits centered on the lighthouse as well as a historic look into the industries and life on our peninsula. Highlights of the museum are many, but two of the visitors’ favorites are the stories of Nellie and Molly the lighthouse dogs and photos and documentation from the filming of the movie “Forest Gump” during which Tom Hanks concluded his long run on our lighthouse runway. And before leaving the museum a stop in the gift shop is recommended.
